Kamal Haasan is soon expected to recommence work on Sabash Naidu, the multi-lingual comedy which was stalled last year after he fell from the stairs of his office and fractured his leg. Sabash Naidu is a spin-off on the popular character Balram Naidu from Dasavatharam. Kamal, who recently made his television debut as the host of Tamil reality show Bigg Boss, also has Indian 2 with director Shankar in his kitty, and the project will roll from next year. The project will only go on the floors after the filmmaker is completely relieved of 2.0 while Kamal is expected to wrap up Vishwaroopam 2. The pre-production of Indian 2, rumoured to be made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, will begin from February 2018. ACCORDING TO THE INDUSTRY GRAPEVINE, SHANKAR AND LYCA ARE AWAITING KAMAL'S NOD. If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan will preside over the audio launch of superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0, slated to take place this Friday in Dubai, as its chief guest.
Apparently, Shankar and Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0, want Kamal to attend the event and they’re awaiting his final nod. The event is all set to be organised on a never before seen scale. Rumour has it that a VIP table at the event costs a whopping Rs. 6 lakh and the organizers have already sold out all the tickets. Tickets for the event were sold out in a few hours as audiences are looking forward to the live performance of A.R Rahman with bated breath. Rahman will perform songs from the album on the occasion for half an hour. While the film has just one song, a duet featuring Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson, the album is rumoured to have five songs and Rahman will perform all the tracks on Friday at Burj Khalifa where the highly anticipated event will take place. Rumoured to be made on a budget of over INR 400 crore, 2.0 unites Shankar and Rajinikanth for the third time. Although most of the talkie portion has already been completed, the makers postponed the release to ensure high-quality VFX output. Over 15 studios from across the globe are simultaneously working on different portions of the film. Also starring Akshay Kumar as the antagonist, apart from Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey, the film will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu in January 2018. In a tweet, Kamal Hassan congratulated Kerala Chief Minister Pinnarayi Vijayan for the "bravo" act Chennai: Actor Kamal Hassan, who is set to launch himself into politics by the end of this year,on Monday saw Kerala government's decision to appoint 36 non-Brahmins as temple priests as realization of late Periyar's dream.
In a tweet, Kamal Hassan congratulated Kerala Chief Minister Pinnarayi Vijayan for the "bravo" act. The actor calls Vijayan as his "good friend" and had met him in Thiruvananthapuram on September 1 for Onam lunch as part of his "learning curve" before his formal launch into politics. "Bravo Travancore Devaswom Board. Salute to Kerala Chief Minister Pinnarayi Vijayan for appointing 36 non-Brahmin priests. Periyar's dream realised," Kamal wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter. The actor has been quite active on Twitter for the past few months and has been commenting on almost all issues concerning Tamil Nadu and other southern states. He had also declared a war on corruption a few months back when he asked people to send complaints of corruption in every department to the minister concerned. In his tweet on Monday, Kamal hailed the Kerala Government's move as "realization of late Periyar's dream" since the legendary Dravidian rationalist had fought many a battle to get equal rights for all sections of the society in temples in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Periyar had led the agitation in 1924 at Vaikom, a small town in the then Travancore state and current Kerala, to secure freedom of movement for all sections of society through the public roads leading to the Sri Mahadevar Temple in the town. Ezhava community members were not allowed to use the road leading to the temple before the agitation. Elaborating further, he said, “A star night which also comprises a star cricket show has been planned in Malaysia next January to raise funds for building construction, which Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have consented to attend.” Taking a dig at the previous regime and those who created trouble before the commencement of construction, he quipped, “Those opposing us for no reasons have gone tired. No fault can be found on us for we work honest and upright.” The sangam passed a resolution urging TN government not to remove Kalaignar Karunanidhi's name from Sivaji statue kept at Sivaji Memorial. “Kalaignar holds a life membership card in Nadigar Sangam. Hence his name is to be included in the statue of thespian Sivaji Ganesan.” On local body tax on cinema he said, “It is against the welfare of industry. I urge all in industry to join the fight for its abolition. Cinema cannot survive if taxed at 40 per cent. Already piracy is a big threat. We have asked for an appointment to meet the ministers concerned at the Secretariat on Tuesday and hope to resolve it soon.” According to Treasurer Karthi, office bearers of previous tenure have utilised sangam's funds without proper accounts. "Our auditor worked tirelessly to correct accounts. Our estimated earlier cost for construction of the building was Rs 24 crores. With GST, it may go up to Rs 30 crore”.
