THE DIRECTOR HAS WORKED ON THE 'BAAHUBALI' FRANCHISE FOR FIVE YEARS Director SS Rajamouli, following the mega success of Baahubali: the Beginning and Baahubali: the Conclusion, had announced that his next would feature Jr NTR and Ram Charan Teja in the lead.
Moreover, he is moving over to a fresh film after working on Baahubali for over five years. With the director getting ready to wield the megaphone for this entertainer featuring two of the biggest stars in the Telugu film industry, fans are waiting eagerly for more information on it. Well, here it is! Reports say that the groundwork for the project has begun already and its muhurat will be held in January 2018. The shooting will commence in March. Ram Charan, by that time, will be completing his current assignment Rangasthalam as it is scheduled for release in March. On the other hand, Jr NTR will be done with his film with Trivikram Srinivas by June. To be made on a budget of Rs. 120 crores, this multistarrer starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan has a good buzz already and the pre-release business is expected to fetch the producers its budget even before it goes on to the floors. Meanwhile, Ram Charan Teja is busy with his upcoming release Rangasthalam that is being directed by Sukumar. The film has Samantha Akkineni playing his lead pair. It is touted to hit the silver screens in March next year as a summer release. Jr NTR’s last release was Jai Lava Kusa, which was by directed K. S. Ravindra. He is now gearing up to play the lead role in Trivikram Srinivas’ untitled film. The director will move over to the Jr NTR film after he is done with the release of Pawan Kalyan’s Agnathavasi. The shooting of Trivikram – Jr NTR film is expected to begin early next year. Some news sounds like rumours even though if they are damn true. Paying nearly 1 crore for a story is not new in Tollywood but it depends on to whom it is being paid. And suddenly if some director who has no hit to his name says he got 1 crore for the story it is not at all believable.
Recently a rumour starting doing rounds in the Film Industry that Allu Arjun has paid around 1 crore for a story. It happens to be a script narrated by director Anil Kanneganti who carved films like Asadhyudu, Mr Nookayya and recently Sandeep Kishan's Run. The rumours say that Allu Arjun was impressed a lot by the story and decided to buy it for 1 crore rupees. Generally, writers like Vakkantam Vamsi, Koratala Siva (for Brindavanam) and Kona Venkat charged 1 crore nearly for many scripts they provided, but this is the first time we are hearing a director selling his script that way. One wonders what is that story that really fascinated him to invest such a money. Or is this just a rumour? Sources close to Bunny have ruled out this 1 crore rumors though they haven't denied that the stylish hero has listened to a narration given by Anil Kanneganti. Let's see what more we will hear about this script in the coming days. The internationally popular film database website has released the list of most popular Indian stars this year. Mumbai: With the conclusion of 2017 nearing, the awards and polls season also kicks off, as was evident with a popular film awards show being held last week.
While those awards were based more on performances, here is a list based on statistics. Popular worldwide film database website IMDb has announced the Top Indian filmstars of the year, based on StarMeter stats and page views. The three Khans, Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman, who have been ruling the industry for more than 25 years now, have also ruled this list, taking the top three spots respectively. The next set of trio to dominate the list are the actors from the blockbuster ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’, which shattered box office records galore this year. Tamannaah Bhatia, who only had a miniscule part in the sequel of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, was placed at number 4, well ahead of the titular character Prabhas, who took the sixth position. Prabhas’ romantic interest in the film Anushka Shetty took the number eight spot in the list. Among other popular stars, Anushka Sharma, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif were placed seventh, ninth and tenth respectively, while internationally recognised star Irrfan Khan, who delivered a hit with ‘Hindi Medium’, was at number 5. However, the absence of Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, who have massive following worldwide, from the list is surprising. Check the list here
Prabhas, who has been shooting extensively in Mumbai for Saaho, has a secret crush on a popular ’90s Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon.
Prabhas achieved worldwide recognition, thanks to SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise. The shy Telugu superstar suddenly was first catapulted into national spotlight and later internationally, with global publications like the BBC covering the phenomenal appeal and success of the film. Such was the adulation that the actor took a break and went away to the US, soon after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion released in April 2017.
On his return in June, Prabhas got busy with his new film, Saaho, which is being directed by Sujeeth Reddy. It has now come to light that Prabhas, who has been shooting extensively in Mumbai, has a secret crush on a popular ’90s Bollywood actor. And the lady in question is Raveena Tandon.
“I am a big a fan of Raveena! Every time I saw the song from Andaz Apna Apna – Elo ji sanam, I was like wow!” The IB Times quoted him as saying.
Incidentally, Raveena’s husband Anil Thadani had distributed Baahubali series. A source told IB Times, “In fact, the actors and makers of Bahubali are close friends and part of a group in Hyderabad and whenever they are in Mumbai they visit Anil and Raveena.”

“When the producer and Rana Daggubati first met Anil, they told him about Prabhas being a mad fan of Raveena. When Prabhas visited Anil and Raveena for dinner last time, he clicked selfies with the gorgeous actress,” the source adds.
The Sujeeth directorial will be released simultaneously in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. WITH RAJAMOULI PLANNING TO ROPE BOTH THE STARS FOR HIS UPCOMING FILM, FANS ARE EAGER FOR INFORMATION. Ever since a pic of director SS Rajamouli flanked by Tollywood stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan Teja made it to the media, there have been various speculations about their upcoming film together.
Reports suggest that the film will be a sports drama and it will be penned by popular writer Gunnam Gangaraju with Rajamouli’s father Vijayendra Prasad overseeing its development. It is well known that Jr NTR is a top-class performer but when it comes to fitness levels, he has seemingly been inconsistent. On the other hand, Ram Charan has an enviable physique but when it comes to performance, some say that there is lot left to be desired. With SS Rajamouli planning to rope them both for his multi-starrer, fans are hoping that both the stars outsmart the other. Meanwhile, Ram Charan is busy with Rangasthalam that is expected to hit the silver screens in March. Directed by Sukumar, the film has Samantha Akkineni pairing up with Ram Charan for the first time. Others in the star cast of this period drama are Jagapati Babu, Rambha, Gouthami and Aadhi Pinisetty. Jr NTR’s last outing was Jai Lava Kusa which released a few months ago and the star’s next would be with Trivikram Srinivas. Jr NTR is currently on a holiday with his family in Europe and his film with Trivikam would go on to the floors once he returns to India. The director himself, is presently working on the Pawan Kalyan starrer Agnathavasi. This film is slated to hit the silver screens on January 10 as a Sankranti release. With SS Rajamouli roping in two of the best actors in the Telugu film industry, fans just can’t wait to hear more information, particularly about the rest of the cast and crew including the female leads. KEERTHY PLAYS SAVITRI IN 'NADIGAIYAR THILAGAM'. Keerthy Suresh is fast emerging as one of the finest heroines in the film industry, and the roles that she has been bagging proves this beyond doubt. The young actor is busy with a slew of films in Tamil and Telugu, and the most challenging role that she has ever done happens to be the role she plays in the bilingual Mahanati / Nadigayar Thilgam, in which she is playing legendary actor Savitri.
Speaking about the film, Savitri said, “90% of the audience only knows Savitri through her onscreen image. To bring out that difference was the tough part. It’s been a genuinely challenging experience to play Savitri. There are a few sequences from her original films; we have done a scene from Maya Bazaar and a portion of a song from the film. I had to work hard because I cannot use my imagination and have to be completely in her shoes. She was a person who would give 100 expressions in 10 seconds. The way her bold eyes and her lips express an emotion — it is impractical to replicate her precisely. But I wanted to give my best. I have more than 100 costumes (changes) in this film. Savitri’s appearance also changes with age in the film, so we had to go in for a makeover at each stage.” Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film has a plethora of stars in the cast including Mohan Babu, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Vijay Deverakonda, Shalini Pandey and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. It may be noted here that Dulquer plays Savitri’s husband actor Gemini Ganesan in the film, which is being bankrolled by Vyjayanthi Movies. While this film’s release date is yet to be announced, Keerthy Suresh’s will have two film releases this Sankaranthi – Suriya’s Thaana Serntha Kootam and Pawan Kalyan’s Agnathavasi. Mollywood BOYAPATI SRINU WILL BE WIELDING THE MEGAPHONE FOR RAM CHARAN’S NEXT AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY WILL BE WORKING TOGETHER. Amidst reports that two of Tollywood’s leading stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR would be teaming up to share the screen space for an SS Rajamouli directorial which is set to go on the floors later next year, there are reports about the former’s next which is exciting as well. Director Boyapati Srinu will be wielding the megaphone for Ram Charan’s next and this is the first time they will be working together. The film will be bankrolled by DVV Dhanayya under his banner DVV Entertainments. The groundwork for this project has been going on for quite a while now and it is expected to commence on November 26.
Meanwhile, Ram Charan would be wrapping up Rangasthalam 1985 which is partly set in a different era. Expectations are high on this flick as the star would be appearing in a very different get up. Directed by Sukumar, Rangasthalam is produced by Naveen Yerneni, Y Ravi Shankar, Mohan Cherukuri, Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan under the banner Mythri Movie Makers with Surekha Konidela presenting it. Recently, Chiranjeevi watched the unedited version of the film and expressed his happiness about the way the film has turned out. Samantha Ruth Prabhu is pairing up with Ram Charan for the first time with the star cast also includes Jagapati Babu, Rambha, Gouthami, Aadhi Pinisetty, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Padmaja Lanka. Pooja Hegde will be shaking a leg for a song in it. Devi Sri Prasad has composed music for Rangasthalam with R Rathnavelu cranking the camera and Navin Nooli editing it. Made on a budget of around Rs 45 crores, the film is touted to hit the marquee on March 16 next year. With Ram Charan having exciting projects on his hands with leading directors, his fans are waiting eagerly to know more about the upcoming films with Boyapati Srinivas and SS Rajamouli. IN ALL PROBABILITY, THE FILM WILL GO ON THE FLOORS IN 2018. Here is the news every movie buff has been waiting forever since Baahubali: The Conclusion released in April this year! Yes, director SS Rajamouli has revealed in an interview to Variety about the next two projects for which he would be wielding the megaphone for.
The director revealed that the first project that he will be directing would be for Danayya’s DVV Entertainments banner. One of the popular production houses in Tollywood, Danayya had bankrolled films such as Varudu, Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu, Julayi, Nayak and Ninnu Kori. His current project is the highly anticipated Mahesh Babu starrer Bharath Ane Nenu which is being helmed by Koratala Siva. The director, however, did not disclose anything else about the project including the language it is to be made in and the star cast. In all probability, the film will go on the floors in 2018. His next would be bankrolled by KL Narayana who has produced films such as Kshana Kshanam, Hello Brother, Dongaata and Santosham. Mahesh Babu has been roped in to play the lead role in this project and the shooting is expected to commence in 2019. With the director disclosing two of his upcoming projects, all speculation about his next film have come to an end. SS Rajamouli, the most successful director in Indian cinema, came up with the magnum opus, the Baahubali franchise, which turned out to be a colossal hit. Baahubali: the Conclusion went on to collect over Rs. 1600 crore at the worldwide box office. He made his debut in Tollywood with Student No 1 and went on to direct blockbusters such as Simhadri, Eega, Magadheera, Maryada Ramanna etc. His last two films, Baahubali: the Beginning and Baahubali: the Conclusion has made him one of the most wanted directors in India. Bilinguals in south Indian cinema are not a new phenomenon. Even though the four major languages of the south are distinct and have their own scripts, there are many similarities among them. The popularity of stars from one state spills over to others and actors, especially women who play the heroine, have for long worked across industries. Further, for several years, Madras (now Chennai), used to be the centre where most south Indian films were made. The Tamil and Telugu industries, especially, are closely connected and many films have been made in both languages simultaneously, right from the '50s. Why bilingual? Of late, with expanding budgets, the explosion of social media, and the multiplex culture, bilinguals have become increasingly common. The more number of people the film is made for, the better the returns. Besides, a vast majority of these big budget films are set in urban areas with universal themes. Culturally, there isn't much variation that the filmmakers need to make in the scripts for the different films. Characters can sport the same look and have similar lifestyles without looking "off". In the recent bilingual release Solo, for instance, the stories are not restricted by place. The action shifts from one place to another and is not bound by cultural specificities. The film has been made in Tamil and Malayalam - the overarching themes being love, betrayal, revenge, and deception, the responses to the film are not likely to be radically different between the two audiences. Before Solo's release came the AR Murugadoss thriller Spyder which was made in Telugu and Tamil. With Mahesh Babu and Rakul Preet in lead roles, the film had a massive release in all three states. Even though this was Mahesh Babu's first Tamil film, the Tamil audience was already familiar with him. Besides, AR Murugadoss has given blockbusters with top actors from Kollywood and is an established name in the industry. Prakash Raj, who is well-known in the southern film industries made Idolle Ramayana in Kannada and Telugu (Mana Oori Ramayanam) and also starred in the lead role. Director Alphonse Puthren of Premam fame made his debut with the bilingual Neram which had Nivin Pauly and Nazriya in the lead roles. While the lead cast is likely to be the same, filmmakers may change the supporting actors, especially the comedian. This is because their appeal may be limited to their respective audiences unlike that of the big stars. Will it work across the board? However, bilinguals run the risk of looking too generic. It's impossible to make say, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum or Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu as a bilingual because these films are so rooted in their social milieu. The landscape, the dialect spoken by the characters, the incongruities of their behaviour, even just how everybody in the film looks - it cannot be easily adapted to another culture. A remake can certainly be made, in different locations and with different actors, but the film will not work merely by changing the language. The ensemble cast in a bilingual usually features actors from across industries so they hold an appeal to different audiences. The disadvantage of this, however, is that many a time, they appear miscast and the unfamiliarity with the language sticks up as a sore point. This is a criticism that has been leveled against several films, including the latest release Solo. Moreover, each industry has a certain sensibility which has been shaped by the history of its cinema. Making a bilingual while paying heed to this is a difficult ask. Already, even for the release of dubbed versions, we see filmmakers deliberately including sequences that they believe are necessary for the film to appeal to the "other" audience. Exaggerated fight scenes or "item" numbers may be included because that's the norm in an industry that has the big monies.
Even though the US and the UK make films in English, the ones made in Hollywood and Britain are vastly different. It's not just the accent, it's everything - from cultural representations to even the sense of humour. When it comes to India, with its immensely diverse population, it's not always possible to hit the right note when you are making a film for two different cultures. While the audience may expand, the realm of ideas for subjects becomes narrower. One understands that films need to make money for the industry to survive and thrive but hopefully, this trend will not restrict big budget filmmakers from exploring subjects closer home. As Twitter taught Shabana Azmi recently, upma and poha are not one and the same even if they may share similarities.
Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna's upcoming horror-comedy Raju Gari Gadhi 2 is a much-awaited release for his numerous fans. The film also stars his newly-wed daughter-in-law and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu along with Seerat Kapoor.
While Nagarjuna essays the role of a mentalist in the film, Prabhu will be seen as a ghost. Directed by Ohmkar, this film is speculated to be the sequel of the 2015 Ohmkar directorial. Raju Gari Gadhi 2 revolves around a group of tourists vacationing at an island resort where they feel some paranormal presence. That is when they get in touch with Nagarjuna. It was reported that Prabhu essays the role of a lawyer named Amrutha. But the actress will not be in her mortal self, but as a ghost, reports Hindustan Times. Pictures of Samantha in lawyer's costume, probably for a courtroom sequence, were doing rounds on social media, thus alluding to her character in the film.
However, many other pictures of the actress from the sets of the film, movie posters etc have been on social media, keeping the mystery around her character intact.
Prabhu tied knot with her long-time beau and Akkineni Nagarjuna's son Naga Chaitanya on 7 October in Goa amid close friends and family.
Raju Gari Gadhi 2 is slated for a 13 October release this year. |
