Amitabh Bachchan recently shared screen space with Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has done very few south Indian films and they were for just a few friends. Recently, he went on to ink the dotted the lines for the multi-lingual Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, in which he will be seen sharing the screen space with the Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi. Chiru and the Big B have been friends for long so when the offer to play a pivotal character in Sye Raa was offered, he simply lapped it up.
Incidentally, there have been reports that Amitabh Bachchan was approached to play a role in N Balakrishna’s film but he declined the offer. Following this, Balayya shelved the project stating that he wouldn’t do it unless Amitabh Bachchan agrees to do the role. And now, there is a buzz that director KV Anand is trying hard to get the star onboard for his next with Suriya in the lead. Sources say that the filmmaker is trying to get in touch with Amitabh Bachchan to narrate the story and is sure to impress him with the script. Well, to get clarity on it, we need to wait. Meanwhile, Suriya’s Thaana Serntha Kootam hit the marquee recently and is doing well at the theatres. The star will now move over to the Selvaraghavan directorial. Reports are that the KV Anand’s film will start rolling after Suriya is done with this project. In the meantime, KV Anand will be completing the groundwork and assembling his star cast. It may be mentioned here that KV Anand had directed Suriya in Ayan and Maatraan earlier of which the former was smash hit while the latter received a lukewarm response. It needs to be seen how their third venture together would fare at the box office.

Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the movie is a remake of Bollywood hit Special 26, which had Akshay Kumar and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles and is set against the backdrop of incidents that happened in the late 1980s.
Unlike his Singam avatar where he sported a handlebar moustache, Suriya will be seen in a clean-shaven look in Thaana Serntha Kootam. He will be seen in two different looks in the film, where he has decided to try his hands at comedy after a long time and this shift from regular action films might work in his favour. The film boasts an ensemble cast of actors, including Keerthy Suresh, Ramya Krishnan, Karthik, Senthil, Sathyan, Kalaiyarasan and choreographer Shivashankar, playing pivotal characters. After being on the floors for nearly a year, the film is scheduled for a Pongal. It’ll be an interesting box-office battle as the film will take Vikram’s Sketch and Prabhudheva’s Gulebakavali along with four other films head-on at the box-office for the festive occasion. The film’s dubbed version in Telugu, will have a simultaneous release. Music for the film has been scored by Anirudh Ravichander and it is bankrolled by Studio Green production banner, on a budget of Rs. 90 crores.
The film, tentatively titled Suriya 36, could be a revived version of Selvaraghavan’s own film Kaan, which was shelved for unknown reasons.
Ahead of the release of his film Thaana Serntha Kootam, Suriya on Monday commenced work on his next yet-untitled Tamil outing with filmmaker Selvaraghavan. Tentatively titled Suriya 36, the film marks the first collaboration of Suriya and Selvaraghavan.
While not much is known about the genre of the film or the subject it might deal with, we have learnt from reliable sources that the film could be a revived version of Selvaraghavan’s own film Kaan, which was shelved for unknown reasons. In 2016, Kaan was launched with Simbu in the lead and the makers even shot briefly, before dropping the project without clarification. An official announcement from the makers regarding these reports which have been doing the rounds since last week is still awaited.
The combination of Suriya and Selvaraghavan has already set the anticipation bar high and audiences are eagerly looking forward to the film. While Rakul Preet Singh was originally considered for the leading lady’s role, the makers last week confirmed that Sai Pallavi will play the lead. Even though it was originally believed to be a two-heroine subject and both the heroines were to be paired with Suriya, it has now been clarified that it’ll only feature one heroine. To be produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the film has been confirmed to release for Diwali this year. It was recently revealed that Suriya’s project won’t be a simple film and it requires a lot of research. Selva, in an interview earlier this year, revealed that he had plans to work with Suriya soon after Kadhal Kondein, and the dream has been finally fulfilled after a decade. Suriya, it is believed, after Selva’s project might team up with Gautham Menon. According to reliable sources, Gautham and Suriya had planned to work together soon after Singam 3; however, due to a prior commitment to Vignesh Shivan, he had to start working on Thaana Serntha Kootam, which is gearing up for release for Pongal 2018. It was recently revealed that Suriya’s project won’t be a simple film and it requires lot of research Among several upcoming projects in Kollywood, the highly anticipated film after Rajinikanth’s 2.0 is Suriya’s next yet-untitled project with maverick filmmaker Selvaraghavan.
Teaming up for the first time, the duo has already set the anticipation bar high and audiences are eagerly looking forward to the film. While Rakul Preet Singh was originally considered for the leading lady’s role, it has now been learnt that the project may also feature Sai Pallavi in the lead. Reports suggest that the film will have two female leads, and both will be paired with Suriya, who will be seen in a brand new avatar. Last seen in Karthi’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, it is believed that Rakul was signed on for the project a while ago. Dream Warrior Pictures, the company that produced Theeran, is also bankrolling the Suriya-Selvaraghavan project and they’ve said to have signed Rakul for a two-film deal. Sai Pallavi is said to be the latest addition as she’s currently the toast of the town after a huge success with Telugu film Fidaa this year and signing Dhanush’s Maari 2. Pallavi is yet to officially sign the dotted line but reliable sources have confirmed that she's already given her nod. The regular shooting of the project will commence from March 2017, and in the interim Selva will complete his project with Santhanam. The second look of Suriya's 'Thaana Sernda Kootam' was the most retweeted in 2017, till Virat and Anushka got married.
This year saw southern cinema ruling social media … until Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma decided to get married last weekend.
The couple, christened ‘Virushka’ by the media, broke the internet when they finally went official and Kohli’s tweet announcing their wedding was declared the Golden Tweet of 2017. His tweet got a whopping 88,446 retweets, and over 5 lakh ‘likes’ and counting.
Suriya’s tweet, which was declared the Golden Tweet just a week ago, has now fallen to the Number 2 spot. The actor unveiled the second look for his upcoming Tamil film, Thaana Serndha Kootam, and it quickly garnered 74,704 retweets.
With this, the skipper of the Indian cricket team has had the most retweeted tweet in India for the second year running – and coincidentally, both tweets have been about Anushka Sharma. Last year, when internet trolls went after Sharma, blaming her for Kohli’s drop in form, an angry Kohli tweeted asking everyone to show “compassion”.
In a series of tweets, each one more vicious than the last, trolls had linked Kohli’s performance to the couple’s alleged break-up. An angry Kohli took to Twitter to react, and it sparked rumours of a reconciliation between the two.
One of the top Twitter trends in India this year was #Mersal, which garnered over 1.7 million tweets in just three days. Other trending topics in entertainment included Baahubali 2 and the show Bigg Boss.
Twitter users in India also took to the platform to discuss current affairs as well, on topics such as the GST and the Supreme Court’s verdict on Triple Talaq. Actors Surya has wrapped up Vignesh Shivan’s Thaanaa Serndha Koottam and the film will release for Pongal. The actor’s next project – his 36th film, is with Selvaraghavan and will go to floors in January. The film is touted to be a Diwali release. Speculations are now on about his 37th film. It was expected that after the success of Karthi’s Theeram Adheegaram Ondru, Suriya may do a film with the film’s director H.Vinoth. However news is that he will join hands with Maanagaram maker Logesh Kanagaraj.
The film is said to be a supernatural thriller and is apparently titled Irumbu Kai Maayavi. The title is inspired from a British comic from the 60s and 70s called The Steel Claw which was translated in Tamil. The film will be a big budget venture and shoot will last 8 months. Official announcement awaited. After the first season of the raging success, Bigg Boss completed, there have been many reports as to who will be hosting the second season of the show. The show went on for 100 days with Snehan, Aarav, Ganesh, and Harish making it to the finals, while Aarav was the ultimate winner of the title. Kamal Haasan was one of the primary reasons for the success of the show, and his sensibilities and quirky humor took the role of the host to a different level.
Various reports have suggested that actor Suriya will be replacing Kamal Haasan for the second season. But when we contacted our sources close to actor Suriya they vehemently denied the news saying, "No, it's completely a baseless rumor. He is not hosting Big Boss season 2". At the end of the first season, it was announced that the next season would be starting soon with a new set of celebrities. There has been no official announcement on who will be hosting it, so let us wait and see. |
