Amitabh Bachchan recently shared screen space with Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi
Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has done very few south Indian films and they were for just a few friends. Recently, he went on to ink the dotted the lines for the multi-lingual Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, in which he will be seen sharing the screen space with the Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi. Chiru and the Big B have been friends for long so when the offer to play a pivotal character in Sye Raa was offered, he simply lapped it up.
Incidentally, there have been reports that Amitabh Bachchan was approached to play a role in N Balakrishna’s film but he declined the offer. Following this, Balayya shelved the project stating that he wouldn’t do it unless Amitabh Bachchan agrees to do the role.
And now, there is a buzz that director KV Anand is trying hard to get the star onboard for his next with Suriya in the lead. Sources say that the filmmaker is trying to get in touch with Amitabh Bachchan to narrate the story and is sure to impress him with the script. Well, to get clarity on it, we need to wait.
Meanwhile, Suriya’s Thaana Serntha Kootam hit the marquee recently and is doing well at the theatres. The star will now move over to the Selvaraghavan directorial. Reports are that the KV Anand’s film will start rolling after Suriya is done with this project. In the meantime, KV Anand will be completing the groundwork and assembling his star cast.
It may be mentioned here that KV Anand had directed Suriya in Ayan and Maatraan earlier of which the former was smash hit while the latter received a lukewarm response. It needs to be seen how their third venture together would fare at the box office.
An AIADMK office bearer has lodged a complaint with the CoP, seeking changes in the lyrics, which he deems offensive.
Following the widespread furore over inclusion of GST-related dialogues in the Vijay starrer Mersal, yet another film has got mired in controversy.
The song Sodakku mela Sodakku, from Suriya's upcoming film, Thaanaa Serndhan Koottam, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, is in trouble. An AIADMK office bearer Sathish Kumar, has lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police seeking changes in the lyrics, which he claims are offensive and anti-political.
Talking about the issue, RJ Balaji who is also a part of the star cast tweeted saying:
"Respected Media partner, Thanks but no thanks.TSK has marketing budget for the promotions. But thre are too many issues out thre. People are unable to commute. Kindly do something about it. Instead of doing this, ask ur partymen to at least offer lift to people who r stranded."
Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the movie is a remake of Bollywood hit Special 26, which had Akshay Kumar and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles and is set against the backdrop of incidents that happened in the late 1980s.
Unlike his Singam avatar where he sported a handlebar moustache, Suriya will be seen in a clean-shaven look in Thaana Serntha Kootam. He will be seen in two different looks in the film, where he has decided to try his hands at comedy after a long time and this shift from regular action films might work in his favour.
The film boasts an ensemble cast of actors, including Keerthy Suresh, Ramya Krishnan, Karthik, Senthil, Sathyan, Kalaiyarasan and choreographer Shivashankar, playing pivotal characters.
After being on the floors for nearly a year, the film is scheduled for a Pongal. It’ll be an interesting box-office battle as the film will take Vikram’s Sketch and Prabhudheva’s Gulebakavali along with four other films head-on at the box-office for the festive occasion. The film’s dubbed version in Telugu, will have a simultaneous release.
Music for the film has been scored by Anirudh Ravichander and it is bankrolled by Studio Green production banner, on a budget of Rs. 90 crores.
It was recently revealed that Suriya’s project won’t be a simple film and it requires lot of research
Among several upcoming projects in Kollywood, the highly anticipated film after Rajinikanth’s 2.0 is Suriya’s next yet-untitled project with maverick filmmaker Selvaraghavan.
Teaming up for the first time, the duo has already set the anticipation bar high and audiences are eagerly looking forward to the film.
While Rakul Preet Singh was originally considered for the leading lady’s role, it has now been learnt that the project may also feature Sai Pallavi in the lead. Reports suggest that the film will have two female leads, and both will be paired with Suriya, who will be seen in a brand new avatar.
Last seen in Karthi’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, it is believed that Rakul was signed on for the project a while ago. Dream Warrior Pictures, the company that produced Theeran, is also bankrolling the Suriya-Selvaraghavan project and they’ve said to have signed Rakul for a two-film deal.
Sai Pallavi is said to be the latest addition as she’s currently the toast of the town after a huge success with Telugu film Fidaa this year and signing Dhanush’s Maari 2. Pallavi is yet to officially sign the dotted line but reliable sources have confirmed that she's already given her nod.
The regular shooting of the project will commence from March 2017, and in the interim Selva will complete his project with Santhanam.
It was recently revealed that Suriya’s project won’t be a simple film and it requires lot of research. Selva, in an interview earlier this year, revealed that he had plans to work with Suriya soon after Kadhal Kondein, and the dream has been finally fulfilled after a decade.
Suriya, it is believed, after Selva’s project might team up with Gautham Menon. According to reliable sources, Gautham and Suriya had planned to work together soon after Singam 3. However, due to a prior commitment to Vignesh Shivan, he had to work start working on Thaana Serntha Kootam, which is gearing up for release.
As Suriya’s ‘Anjaan’ is fast approaching the finish line, the focus has now shifted to Suriya’s next film, which would be directed by Venkat Prabhu. Updating about the project, lyricist Madhan Karky, who is working on the film’s dialogues, has tweeted “Having super fun working on dialogues for Director Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming project with actor Surya.”
Yuvan Shankar Raja has been roped in to score music for the film, while RD Rajasekar will be handling the camera. The movie, which is touted to be of a unique genre, will be funded by Studio Green. Nayanthara and Amy Jackson will play the leading ladies.
Director-producer Lingusamy and Karthi gave the smash his race entertainer Paiyya some years ago and now they are back together for a movie titled Yenni Yezhu Naal. With Lingusamy almost done with Suriya’s Anjaan and just one song needed to canned, he has revealed about his next.
Karthi is upbeat about teaming up with the hit director once again. Tammannah had played the female lead in Paiyya; therefore, it would be interesting to note who will bag the offer to play the heroine in Yenni Yezhu Naal. Lingusamy intends to get this film on the floors in a couple of months; probably after the post production of Anjaan is over.
The official pooja of Suriya’s next film to be directed by Venkat Prabhu went on floors yesterday, April 14th, 2014. This event was well attended with Suriya’s dad and actor Siva Kumar, Karthi, director Bala, Premji Amaren, stunt master Silva and others present to wish the team.
Produced by Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja, this untitled film will have music by Yuvan. Premji will be playing the comedian in this film. When enquired about the heroine, we came to know that the search is on for a suitable lady and most probably it could be Shruti Haasan.
Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has backtracked on her comment that she doesn’t know who Suriya is. When the actress was asked if she is doing a cameo in the Suriya starrer Anjaan, she had replied that she is not even aware of who Suriya or director Lingusamy is.
However, she has backtracked now and has said during an interaction with the press, her comment was distorted by the media. Stating that she is well aware that Suriya is one of the top ranking stars in the South Indian film industry, Kareena said that all she meant was that she did not know him personally.
There is some good news for Suriya fans, who are waiting to catch a glimpse of his upcoming film ‘Anjaan’ with director Lingusamy. UTV Dhananjayan has tweeted “Lingusamy sir assures to give the first look Advt of Anjaan on 14th April…I am trying to ensure this happens to delight all fans.”
It is worth mentioning that Suriya will be playing dual roles in the film and Samantha plays his love interest. The teaser is expected to be released by the end of this month. Music is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
Suriya and director Hari have already worked together in 4 blockbusters, namely, Aaru, Vel, Singam and Singam 2. The latest buzz in the tinsel town is that the duo will be coming together soon for the fifth time, after completing their respective assignments. Suriya is currently acting in ‘Anjaan’ and Hari is currently directing ‘Poojai’, which has Vishal and Shruti Haasan in the lead.
If reports are to be believed, Hari has recently met Suriya at the sets of ‘Anjaan’ in Mumbai and narrated a village based action story and Suriya had immediately agreed to do the project. Let’s wait for the official updates!
Lyricist Arivumathi is reported to have refused to pen the lyrics for Anjaan, state sources. It is said that Arivumathi did not like director Lingusamy distributing Inam, which is based on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue; so when the director came up with the offer he rejected it outright stating that he does not wish to be associated with him. Yet another reason cited for this refusal is that Santosh Sivan, who is cranking the camera for Anjaan, had directed Inam.
Arivumathi and Lingusamy have been sharing a very good rapport for a very long and this sudden refusal from him has shocked the director, state sources.
