Akshay Kumar's Padman and Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2 will clash at the box office on Republic Day 2018.
Akshay Kumar's Padman might have avoided box-office clash with Rajinikanth's 2.0, but Khiladi Kumar will now lock horns with Kamal Haasan on Republic Day 2018.
Kamal's Vishwaroopam 2 has been in the making for a long time, but the shooting was put on hold for some time due to his other work commitments. And now the actor has resumed the shooting of the film. The last schedule of the film is being shot in Chennai. Trade Analyst Ramesh Bala took to Twitter to share the news and wrote, "Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasan has resumed Vishwaroopam2's final leg of shoot in #Chennai recently. Movie will release for #RepublicDay2018. Trailer will release sometime in Dec."
Rajinikanth’s sci-fi thriller 2.0 will have its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The movie, also starring Bollywood star Akshay Kumar in the role of an antagonist, is a sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Enthiran. Shankar is returning as the director for the film, which is being produced by Lyca Productions.
According to a statement, the subscribers of the streaming giant will access to watch the film in multiple languages such as Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Vijay Subramaniam, Director, Content, Amazon Prime Video, said, “With this momentous deal, Amazon Prime Video further enhances its robust Bollywood and regional content library. “Amazon Prime Video is happy to join hands with Lyca Productions for the exclusive streaming rights for this mega blockbuster film. Both, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar are phenomenal actors with an unbelievable fan following that will soon get the chance to stream the sequel of Rajnikanth’s memorable movie on their favourite streaming device,” he added. Amy Jackson, Sudanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain and Kalabhavan Shajohn complete the supporting cast. Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman has composed the music for the project, which is said to be India’s most expensive film with a budget of Rs. 450 crore. I hope these investments will take Tamil and Indian cinema to world-class standards.” The film is expected to hit theatres in Summer next year. THE STAR SAID THAT SUCH A CLASH IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN AND WILL BE AVERTED. There have been enough speculations about Akshay Kumar’s Padman and 2.0releasing for the Republic Day next year. However, the star has said that such a clash is not going to happen and will be averted. While Padman is his home production produced by his wife Twinkle Khanna, 2.0 is a Shankar directorial that is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Incidentally, Akshay Kumar plays the baddie in 2.0 which has Rajinikanth playing the lead role.
On both his films heading for release around the same time, Akshay Kumar said that it wouldn’t be a good idea for such a clash to happen and it will be averted at any cost. The star went on to add that Padman’s release will depend on when 2.0 hits the screens. Being the producer of Padman, Akshay Kumar said that he can reschedule the release date but that can’t be done for 2.0 as the release plan depends on director Shankar and the producers. It may be noted that Akshay Kumar plays the male lead in Padman while in 2.0,he will be seen as the antagonist. He will be appearing in 12 different get-ups for his role as an evil scientist in 2.0. 2.0, one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema, is made on a budget of Rs. 450 crores by A Subashkaran of Lyca Productions. The film has Amy Jackson playing the female lead with Rajinikanth as the hero and Akshay Kumar as the villain. Scoring the music for this flick is AR Rahman with Nirav Shah being the cameraman and Anthony the editor. This magnum opus has some of the best technicians associated with it, which has raised the expectation levels. It may be recollected that 2.0 is the sequel to Endhiran, which was a blockbuster hit. ACCORDING TO THE INDUSTRY GRAPEVINE, SHANKAR AND LYCA ARE AWAITING KAMAL'S NOD. If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan will preside over the audio launch of superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0, slated to take place this Friday in Dubai, as its chief guest.
Apparently, Shankar and Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0, want Kamal to attend the event and they’re awaiting his final nod. The event is all set to be organised on a never before seen scale. Rumour has it that a VIP table at the event costs a whopping Rs. 6 lakh and the organizers have already sold out all the tickets. Tickets for the event were sold out in a few hours as audiences are looking forward to the live performance of A.R Rahman with bated breath. Rahman will perform songs from the album on the occasion for half an hour. While the film has just one song, a duet featuring Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson, the album is rumoured to have five songs and Rahman will perform all the tracks on Friday at Burj Khalifa where the highly anticipated event will take place. Rumoured to be made on a budget of over INR 400 crore, 2.0 unites Shankar and Rajinikanth for the third time. Although most of the talkie portion has already been completed, the makers postponed the release to ensure high-quality VFX output. Over 15 studios from across the globe are simultaneously working on different portions of the film. Also starring Akshay Kumar as the antagonist, apart from Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey, the film will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu in January 2018. The makers have earmarked Rs 12 crores to establish the audio launch as the first-of-its-kind movie-related ceremony. AR Rahman will perform live at the event, apart from a host other exciting performances and stage shows. The teaser of the movie, which is being helmed by maverick director Shankar, will be unveiled at another massive event in Hyderabad, on 22 November, at the Shilpakala Vedika auditorium. The trailer launch of the film, which also marks Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's Tamil debut in the role of a villain, will be held in Rajinikanth's home city of Chennai in a third, huge event. Though the trailer launch date is not finalised yet, the makers are reportedly trying to plan it for 12 December, to coincide with Rajinikanth's birthday. While the talkie portion of 2.0 was completed a while ago, director Shankar is gearing up for the final song shoot which begins tomorrow. Amy Jackson, who plays an important role in the film and is collaborating with Shankar for the second consecutive time after Vikram-starrer I, has been rehearsing for the song over the past few days. The track will be filmed on Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson. "The team has already initiated talks with Twitter, Facebook and Google for possible collaborations. An official announcement of each partnership will be revealed at regular intervals over the next few weeks. Apart from launching a dedicated emoji on Twitter, audiences can also expect certain new things on the micro-blogging platform for the film," informs a source in the know. Made at a whopping budget of Rs 400 crores, 2.0 has music composed by Rahman. Cinematographer Nirav Shah, who has joined forces with Shankar for the first time, has shot the film in stereoscopic 3D. "With stereoscopic 3D, which comprises two camera pods and multiple cameras attached to each pod, it's easy to obtain pristine, native 3D images instead of the conventional 2D to 3D conversion process which takes place in the post-production," the source adds. CJ Sarachene, best known for working in popular Hollywood films such as Chronicles of Narnia and Night at the Museum, is managing the animation effects in the movie. While national award-winning VFX expert Srinivas Mohan, who earned rave reviews for his work in the first installment of the Baahubali series, is taking care of the visual effects, academy-award winning technician Resul Pookutty is working on the sound design. The makers recently released a 3D featurette to bring audiences up to speed with the technology. "I was mesmerised when I saw the first shot in 3D on the screen. I watched it repeatedly,” said Rajinikanth in the making-of video. While Akshay Kumar noted working in 3D was much harder than he imagined, director Shankar reiterated that they have made the film in 3D, not as a gimmick but because the script demanded it. Rajinikanth will return as Dr Vaseegaran, and the evil robot Chitti in this sequel and Akshay Kumar is said to be playing the role of a scientist named Dr Richard. The satellite rights of the film, which is Asia's costliest natively acquired 3D project ever, have been bought by Zee Network for Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages at Rs 110 crores. Amazon Prime has reportedly secured the digital rights to the film for a pricey sum. |
