In an interview to a national daily, Soundarya Rajinikanth, the director of Kochadaiiyaan, said that with more time and budget, her dream project could’ve have been better.
However, the young director has no regrets with the final outcome on the film, which is slated for release on May 9th, 2014. Answering another question on the delay in releasing this film, Soundarya said that it cannot be termed as delay because there too much of post production work was involved. Interestingly, she had won the Indian of the Year Award for bringing in a new technical innovation into the country with the Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiiyaan.
Few days ago, BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had met Superstar Rajinikanth as a mark of respect. Now, the latest news surfacing in the industry is that Rajinikanth might arrange a special screening of his magnum opus ‘Kochadaiyaan’ for Narendra Modi in Gujarat soon. There are also reports that Rajinikanth might not attend this special screening, but his daughter and director Soundarya would.
Being the first Indian movie to be completely based on motion capture technology, the expectation around the movie is humongous. The movie is all set to hit the screens on May 9th and has music by AR Rahman.
Finally, there is some good news for Superstar Rajinikanth’s ardent fans, as reliable sources have confirmed that ‘Kochadaiyaan’ will most probably hit the screens on May 1st. The official press release is expected to be out by this weekend and also the advertisements on newspapers will soon be carrying the release date. It is worth mentioning that the movie has completed the censor formalities and it has got a clean ‘U’ certificate.
Directed by Soundarya R Ashwin, the movie is India’s first film to be completely shot using motion capture technology. Music is by AR Rahman and the cast includes Deepika Padukone, Shobhana, Aadhi, Sarathkumar and Nassar.
Soundarya, the director of Kochadaiiyaan, has said that her dad Rajinikanth was confident that she would prove herself as a filmmaker and hence decided to star in it. With the film being the first in India to be made under the motion capture technology, Rajinikanth felt that his daughter would be the best person to bring it on the silver screens perfectly well because he has been seeing the creative side of his daughter since her childhood.
Well, hope the daughter meets the expectation of her dad as well as his fan worldwide. Kochadaiiyaan is slated for release in May but the release has not been finalised yet. The film stars Deepika Padukone as Rajinikanth’s heroine.
Ever since the news made it to the media that the Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiiyaan has been certified with a clean ‘U’ certificate without any cuts, media persons started to raise the question on how the film could be censored when its director Soundarya Ashwin was in China for the final post production works.
It has now been clarified that the certificate was given only for the 2D version of the film, which is complete and not for the much-hyped 3D and Hindi versions. Soundarya was busy with the 3D version’s post production work when the film was censored, it has been clarified. So, it is now clear that the filmmakers and censor board officials did not flout any rules.
Sources in the know say that Goundamani is keen on having his upcoming movie 49 O released before the elections as people will come to know what 49 O means and its relevance and importance.
However, the makers of this film want to release 49 O after the elections are through so that the film would manage to pull more crowds to the theatres. Further, with movies like Naan Sigappu Manithan and Jagajala Pujabala Thenaliraman also hitting the screens in April, plans are afoot to release 49 O later in May. The curtain raiser and the audio launch of Hindi version of Superstar’s ‘Kochadaiyaan’ happened at a star-studded event yesterday and it was attended by Bollywood’s top stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kajol, Anupam Kher, Subhash Ghai, Ramesh Sippy and Shekar Kapoor. Rajinikanth and Soundarya R Ashwin were also part of the function.
After attending the event, the celebrities were in all praise about the film and its director Soundarya R Ashwin. Check out what the Bollywood stars had to say about the film:
Amitabh Bachchan had tweeted ”Back from the launch of ‘KOCHADAIIYAN’… Rajnikanth’s motion capture technology film, directed by his daughter… INCREDIBLE !! A woman has shown what man could not … First motion capture film. Women Empowerment! India can boast of this achievement, despite the social lacunae that still exists.”
Anupam Kher had tweeted ”Meeting ‘The Rajnikanth’ at the trailer & music launch of Kochadaiiyan was amazing. What I saw today is HISTORICAL. Kochadaiiyaan is directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth. This film will be a Game Changer in Indian Cinema. Take a bow. Rajini my friend BRAVO.”
Shekhar Kapoor had tweeted “Rajnikanth’s daughter Soundarya has done what seemed impossible. She has made Kochadaiyaan in a technology that has immortalized her father.”
There were speculations that the Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan would be the chief guest at the audio and trailer launch of Kochadaiiyaan, but finally it was Shah Rukh Khan who did the honours. The Big B has decided to make up for the loss by releasing the trailer of the Hindi version of Kochadaiiyaan. This event is scheduled to happen in Mumbai on March 30th, 2014.
The film is getting ready to hit the screens in six language worldwide in May and the promos are going on in full swing. Kochadaiiyaan’s Tamil version has been censored with a clean U, it may be recalled here.
Rajinikanth has always avoided being interviewed for reasons best known to him and it is nearly impossible to get him on a one-to-one chat. He had done this to promote Endhiran during its release and now for Kochadaiiyaan.
The Superstar recently had a one-to-one chat with comedian Vivek and this is completely about his upcoming release Kochadaiiyaan. This interview was shot recently at the Jaya TV Studios in Chennai and will be telecast most probably as a Tamil New Year’s Day special, say trade sources. Kochadaiiyaan is a magnum opus that is touted to hit the screens on May 16th, 2014.
This is the big news that all the Superstar fans across the length and breadth of the country have been waiting for! The announcement regarding the magnum opus Kochadaiiyaan is out officially and it is slated for release on May 16th, 2014! Being India’s first photorealistic performance capture film, Kochadaiiyaan stars Rajinikanth, Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Jackie Shroff, Aadhi, Nasser and others. The film has been directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin with music score being done by the Oscar winning composer AR Rahman.
