THE SHOOTING OF THE FILM HAS BEEN STALLED DUE TO PROBLEMS ALLEGEDLY CREATED BY THE ACTOR-COMEDIAN VADIVELU. In his illustrious career, Vadivelu is known for many memorable roles but his portrayal of twin brothers Pulikesi and Ukraputhan in 2006 historic comedy Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi is undoubtedly one of his best performances.
The film was directed by Chimbudeven who was an associate of director Shankar and bankrolled by Shankar. A decade since the release of the film, its sequel titled 24am Pulikesi went on the floors last August but has now come to a halt. The shooting of the film has been stalled due to problems allegedly created by the actor-comedian Vadivelu. Makers have stalled the shooting due to the non-cooperation of the actor on various issues like costumes, selection of supporting actors and hike in remuneration. After the film went on the floors, the actor allegedly increased his remuneration demanding a huge sum, which was solved by the makers. Later, the actor had a new condition that the film should not have a huge star cast, rejecting around 25 names and insisted on using his personal costume designer in the film. The team has shot only for 10 days. Makers decided to spend lavishly and truly make the sequel a notch better than the first part. A huge period set worth lakhs was erected in Chennai’s EVP studio where some key scenes in the first schedule were to be shot and now, the stalling of the shoot could lead to a loss for the makers. While the team was resolving the issues one by one, the actor was creating more. Following this, Shankar who is currently busy with the laborious post-production works of Magnum opus 2.0, has approached the Producer’s Council which has forwarded the complaint to the Nadigar Sangam to resolve the issue. The sequel is being produced by director Shankar along with Lyca Productions which is currently producing Shankar's magnum opus 2.0. ![]() Ace comedian Vadivelu is planning on his next after his last outing Jagajala Pujabala Thenaliraman failed to get positive results at the box office. The film released amidst a lot of expectations but failed to cash in on it at the box office. Not deterred by that, Vadivelu has decided on his next film. This yet-to-be-titled film will be directed by Yuvaraj Dayalan, who had directed Thenaliraman, say sources. However, it is not clear if the actor will be taking up a historical subject this time too. Meanwhile, there is a buzz that Vadivelu might be a part of Rajinikanth’s ‘Lingaa’. ![]() Vadivelu starrer Thenaliraman is running into trouble with some organizations protesting against its release stating that the movie contains scenes that belittles King Krishnadevarayar. Condemning this, director and president of the Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam, Seeman has issued a press statement as below: “Despite the production house’s clarification that there is no Krishna Devarayar character in Tenaliraman and everything in the film is pure imagination, I strongly condemn the people who are announcing that they will besiege Vadivelu’s house and threaten him… Without watching the film, people should not threaten an ace artist like Vadivelu. Though Vadivelu is an onscreen comedian, he is a proud Tamilian and he is a hero for Tamil people. If there are scenes insulting Krishna Devarayar/ Telugu people we will support those organizations, but baseless allegation and threatening a Tamil actor is completely unacceptable… If people think that they could suppress Vadivelu and his upcoming film because of the ongoing political situation, Naam Tamizhar will act as a protective fence for Vadivelu and we will teach perfect lesson to those outfits who are trying to create problems for Tenaliraman.” |
