THE ACTOR SAID THAT HE'D LEARNT A LOT FROM THE FILM DIRECTED BY MOHAN RAJA.

The audio launch of Sivakarthikeyan's Velaikkaran which will mark the debut of Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil in the Tamil industry, took place on Sunday.

The film, directed by Mohan Raja, also has Nayanthara, Sneha, RJ Balaji, Prakash Raj and others in the cast. Expected to release on December 22, Velaikkaran is among the most anticipated films of the year.

Mohan Raja's last release was the blockbuster Thani Oruvan with his brother Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swami playing a cat and mouse game that had the audience enthralled. The film was also remade in Telugu with Ram Charan in the lead and Arvind Swami reprising his original role.

Speaking at the launch, Sivakarthikeyan declared that he will not endorse any brand or act in any ad henceforth because of the questions the film had raised in him. Mohan's Thani Oruvan had a villain from the corporate sector and the film provided an insight on how money controls everything in society. It appears that Velaikkaran, too, will be connected to the same theme.

Sivakarthikeyan is Kollywood's fastest rising star. His last film Remo with Keerthy Suresh, though panned by critics, was a huge hit. Anirudh had composed the music for this film as well.

Fresh out of the success of Maan Karate, Sivakarthikeyan has moved over to the sets of Taana today. The pooja of this film happened some days ago and the shooting was in progress but the hero has joined the sets today, state sources.

Taana is produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and directed by Durai Senthil Kumar. Interestingly, this same team came out with the blockbuster hit Ethir Neechal and hence they decided to join hands together again to come out with even better results at the box office this time. Sri Divya will be playing Sivakarthikeyan’s lead pair in Taana.

Director AR Murugadoss is not only one of the producers of Maan Karate but has also authored the story. Speaking at the success meet of this film, the ace director-producer said that Sivakarthikeyan is completely fit to do comedy roles and if he ever thinks of moving over to the more serious genre, then it should be done gradually. A sudden shift will not be beneficial to the actor, stated the director.

AR Murugadoss added that he always wanted to introduce new talents to the film industry and with Maan Karate, he has done it once again by giving an opportunity to his assistant Thirukumaran to prove his mettle.

It is known that Sivakarthikeyan and Dhanush share a great rapport and Dhanush had produced ‘Ethir Neechal’ with Sivakarthikeyan in the lead before. He is also producing ‘Taana’ now for Siva, which is directed by Durai Senthil Kumar. Interestingly, Dhanush found it difficult to sell his ‘Vellaiyilla Pattadhari’, and when Ayngaran approached Dhanush to acquire the rights of ‘Taana’, he also sold VIP to them.

‘Vellaiyilla Pattadhai’ is Dhanush’s 25th film and it is directed by cinematographer-turned-director Velraj. Amala Paul is paired opposite Dhanush in the film and music is scored by Anirudh.

Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Maan Karate’ released last Friday to mixed reviews and in spite of the negative word of mouth, the movie has managed to get a thunderous opening, thanks to Sivakarthikeyan’s charm. According to Kollywood trade analysts, the movie has managed to collect around Rs 10 crore from the opening weekend in Tamil Nadu alone.

According to reports, the opening collections is 30% more than that of Sivakarthikeyan’s last release ‘Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam’. ‘Maan Karate’ has Hansika has the leading lady and it has been directed by Thirukumaran, a former associate of AR Murugadoss.
